Research Interests

My research interests span marine environmental governance, plastic pollution, and ecosystem sustainability, with a focus on the governance dimensions of ocean and coastal conservation. I examine how global environmental governance processes shape ocean sustainability and how vulnerable regions respond to complex environmental challenges. My current master’s thesis analyses the stalled UN negotiations on the plastics treaty. It investigates how island nations such as Fiji navigate national and regional governance responses to marine plastic pollution. Through this work, I aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of multi-level ocean governance and pathways toward more effective and equitable environmental policy.
