Research Interests

I am interested in benthic filter feeders and how they and their microsymbionts affect biogeochemical cycles. More detailed, I study sponge holobionts and their role in changing the composition of dissolved organic matter and what impact this might have on the surrounding ecosystem. Therefore, I am involved in the working groups “Environmental Biochemistry” and “ICBM-MPI Bridging Group for Marine Geochemistry” both at the ICBM.
