Research Interests

I am interested in research that engages with multispecies ethnography, sonic methodologies, and critical approaches to knowledge production. I will investigate underwater sound and noise, exploring how they affect all beings and how related infrastructures, such as hydrophones, are shaped by particular institutional and historical contexts. This also includes examining the power relations embedded in the production, use, and governance of underwater acoustic knowledge and technologies. As a freediver, I am particularly interested in underwater sound as both medium and method, exploring listening as an embodied, more-than-human practice. I like to combine ethnographic research with experimental science-art approaches while being informed by queerfeminist and decolonial perspectives.
