Research Interests
Jana’s aim was to develop and apply new modelling approaches for complex ecological communities, with particular focus on marine microbes. Applying cutting-edge concepts from nonlinear dynamics and network science, she tried to understand the structure and dynamics of such communities. With these models, she wanted to gain understanding of how diversity of species in communities emerges, functions and fails. Her overarching aim was to understand the consequences of the vast microbial diversity in the oceans and its response to climate change. She is now a postdoc at the Centre for Marine Environmental Sciences, MARUM, in Bremen and is working on molecular pathways for the sequestration of glycocarbon in the sea.
